Infrastructure learning pilot

Terraform foundations with an AWS simulator

See how configuration becomes a plan and how a reviewed plan changes state. Practise with a small AWS model in your browser, with no cloud account, credentials or charges.

Six original lessons. Simulation only, using a defined HCL subset. This course is independent of HashiCorp and AWS; it does not run the Terraform CLI or validate real deployments.

Your learning path

  1. Lesson 1

    Describe a network

Understand configuration, resource addresses and a plan before applying anything.

  2. Lesson 2

    Use variables and outputs

Separate reusable input from resource declarations and expose a result.

  3. Lesson 3

    Connect a subnet

Let a reference express a dependency and inspect the resource graph.

  4. Lesson 4

    Review an in-place update

Change tags while preserving the network and its identity.

  5. Lesson 5

    Add a storage resource

Introduce a different resource type and recognise what the model does not prove.

  6. Lesson 6

    Remove a resource deliberately

See how removing configuration can destroy an applied resource.

One workflow, provider-specific resources

Terraform’s configuration, plan and state workflow carries across providers. Resource types, identity, networking and operational behaviour differ. This pilot starts with AWS. Azure and GCP tracks are future courses, not available in this release.
