Use variables and outputs Give network_cidr the default "10.20.0.0/16", use var.network_cidr as the VPC range, and output aws_vpc.learning.id as network_id.
Learn the concepts Reusable inputs Variables make configuration reusable. In this pilot, a variable must have a default and can hold a string, number, boolean, list or object. A reference such as var.network_cidr reads that default.
Useful outputs Outputs make useful results visible. aws_vpc.learning.id refers to a computed resource identifier. This pilot previews deterministic IDs prefixed with sim-. They are not accepted by AWS. Real cloud IDs are generally unknown until creation; recreating a resource can produce a different real ID.
Know the pilot’s boundaries The simulator supports direct references. Full Terraform also supports functions, expressions, modules, remote backends and many other features. Those are outside this first pilot and are rejected rather than silently approximated.
